Description Mark Goldberg 2003-12-24 12:30:22 EST
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.3.1)
Gecko/20030425

Description of problem:
make xconfig produces a config file missing the following:

CONFIG_XFRM_USER
CONFIG_CRYPTO_NULL
CONFIG_CRYPTO_MD4
CONFIG_CRYPTO_SHA256
CONFIG_CRYPTO_SHA512
CONFIG_CRYPTO_BLOWFISH
CONFIG_CRYPTO_TWOFISH
CONFIG_CRYPTO_SERPENT
CONFIG_CRYPTO_AES
CONFIG_CRYPTO_CAST5
CONFIG_CRYPTO_CAST6
CONFIG_CRYPTO_TEST

Kernel compile fails when compiling xfrm code.

make oldconfig asks for the missing config info and saves it
correctly. After running it, kernel compiles correctly.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-source-2.4.21-4.0.1.EL

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install kernel source, cd to directory
2.copy configs/kernel-2.4.21-athlon.config to .config
3.make xconfig and save
4.compile (make bzImage)

Actual Results: fails compiling xfrm code

Expected Results: correct compile

Additional info:

running make oldconfig and answering questions for missing
config info corrects config file and compile succedes.
Comment 1 Arjan van de Ven 2003-12-24 15:38:30 EST
running make oldconfig after xconfig is always recommended, the
dependency stuff in xconfig isn't too great.

However self compiling kernels isn't too supported and changing
xconfig has a pretty high risk of breaking it even more (it's utterly
fragile) so I'll close this bug as WONTFIX
