RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Comment 3 Petr Hracek 2014-08-05 07:56:29 UTC
Hi David,

do you think that the bug is really a duplicate of bug #1071785.
Upgrade scenario was:
1) Machine was installed on OpenStack
2) After running preupg redhat-upgrade-tool was executed
3) Logging to RHEL-7 was not possible.

On the machine was not installed any qemu-kvm.

This is completely different use case I think.
What do you think about it?

Comment 4 David Shea 2014-08-05 14:46:56 UTC
I think the underlying cause is the same, in that libsasl is not being upgraded due to unupgradable dependencies from RHEL-6. In bug 1071785 the spice and gtk-vnc packages were the source of the dependency problem. In this one it's openldap. If this is something that can be fixed in preupgrade, feel free to re-open the bug.

Hi,

I have the same issue with a binary from RHEL 6.
When I run this binary on RHEL 7, I get the error:

error while loading shared libraries: libsasl2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I tried installing rpm -i cyrus-sasl-lib-2.1.26-19.fc22.x86_64.rpm
but it conflicts with cyrus-sasl-lib-2.1.26-17.el7.x86_64

file /usr/lib64/libsasl2.so.3.0.0 from install of cyrus-sasl-lib-2.1.26-19.fc22.x86_64 conflicts with file from package cyrus-sasl-lib-2.1.26-17.el7.x86_64

Basically I want libsasl2.so.2 on RHEL 7. Which package do I have to download & install?

Thanks
