Description of problem: Yum was having trouble updating packages, until I realized that Bibletime did not accept the latest Sword package. Thinking it might be a corrupted database, I uninstalled Bibletime and Sword, updated all packages, and tried to reinstall Bibletime, but no luck. Turns out this is not a local corrupted rpm database issue, but rather a mistake in packaging, whereby Bibletime can't grok the latest Sword package. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): bibletime.x86_64 2.10.1-2.fc20 sword.x86_64 1.7.3-7.fc20 How reproducible: yum install bibltetime Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open CLI 2. log in as root or use sudo 3. type yum install bibletime 4. press enter Actual results: Error: Package: bibletime-2.10.1-2.fc20.x86_64 (updates) Requires: libsword-1.7.2.so()(64bit) Expected results: Updated: bibletime.x86_64 2.10.1-2.fc20 sword.x86_64 1.7.3-7.fc20 Complete! Additional info: Using Fedora 20 with all released updates.
Dag nabbit. The sword package builds with the default sword SONAME, which defaults to the sword version. It should be set to the branch version, as 1.7.2 and 1.7.3 are API/ABI compatible. I'm kicking off a rebuild of BibleTime now to pick up the SONAME bump.
