Description of problem: On newer ThinkPads, the physical buttons for the TrackPoint have been removed in favor of one big touchapd with soft buttons. 3.This means that scrolling with the TrackPoint + Middle-Click no longer works. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: All newer ThinkPad models, reproducible across distributions. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Linux 2. See that it doesn't work Actual results: Middle-click + TrackPoint movement does nothing. Expected results: Middle-click + TrackPoint movement invokes scroll. Additional info: There is a solution available for Arch Linux (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/xf86-input-evdev-trackpoint/) which works wonderfully for Ubuntu as well (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1246683/comments/50 )
I can confirm this for fedora 21 on Thinkpad L540.
Hi, Middle button trackpoint scrolling on the T440 and similar models is supported by using the new xorg-x11-drv-libinput driver. You can install this on F-21 by doing: yum install xorg-x11-drv-libinput On F-22 this is the new default driver. Note that on F-21 gnome's control-panel cannot change mouse / trackpoint settings when using this new driver. Either update to F-22 alpha (which is pretty stable) or use the "xinput" cmdline tool to change the driver properties directly (or use the default settings). Regards, Hans
