I'm not sure I'm following - if there is connectivity issues (firewall or otherwise) then the status update does not get propagated. what would you expect to happen?

if there is network connectivity, then it work as expected - to me thats not a bug.

you should be aware, that the managed host (on vmware or elsewhere) should be either need to communicate directly to satellite, or via a capsule with the template feature (enabled by default) on the same subnet/network.
