fedora core 2 test 2 crashes during initial installation (after reboot during search for new hardware)

Description of problem:
During the installation of fedora core 2 test 2 the installation
freezes after installation during first boot.

(selecting different packages doesn't influence the crash)
Steps to Reproduce:
1. new installation, following graphical installation process
3. system freezes before log-in during search for new hardware

Another information, even though it should not influence the result: I
partitioned the harddrive (Maxtor DiamondMax Plus9, 120GB, ATA133) to
run MS Windows 2k server and Fedora on this machine.
I just downloaded Fedora Core 1 and will give it a try today and let
you know if it works on this machine.
Fedora Core 1 is running on my machine, the installation process was
