Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 1213615
[Docs] [Technical] Tech Guide Chapter C in appendix about certificates is not clear
Last modified: 2015-08-03 23:59:33 EDT
Tech Guide Chapter C in appendix about certificates is not clear: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.5/html-single/Technical_Guide/index.html#appe-Certificates It seems like it has plenty of useful information, but not really clear how and why would I apply that information to RHEV. Can we update it with a purpose of that procedure and reasoning / warning, as for when exactly we would need to run it. Also, does it have any relation to this procedure? https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.5/html-single/Administration_Guide/index.html#Replacing_the_SSL_certificate_used_by_Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization_Manager_to_identify_itself_to_users_connecting_over_https If so, please specify.

I am unsure what useful information is there... :) Why someone ever want to create its own manual local CA. > Also, does it have any relation to this procedure? > https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/ > Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.5/html-single/Administration_Guide/index. > html#Replacing_the_SSL_certificate_used_by_Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization_ > Manager_to_identify_itself_to_users_connecting_over_https no, this procedure is to use 3rd party CA, it does not discuss how 3rd party issues a certificate but how to integrate them into apache.
Assigning to Lucy for review. Lucy - this bug will likely involve simply removing the section in question from the Technical Guide. We have content on certificates in the Administration Guide that is a good reference, but the content here is very general.
