RHEV admin guide should reflect correct supported version of RHS. Additional info: Gluster storage domain is supported starting RHEV 3.3 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=797961 We even verified below 3.6 bug which talks about almost the same thing. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1202268
Hi We are supporting Gluster storage domain in RHEV since RHEV 3.3 (check comment #2 for extra details) I think the the working should be like below - Red Hat Gluster Storage is supported as Gluster storage domain starting RHEV version 3.3 and later. Therefore, the Compatibility Version of the cluster must be set to version 3.3 or later.
The section in the guide "Working with Red Hat Storage" is about managing Gluster nodes from RHEV-M (not using it as storage domain).RHS version 3.0.4 now reports compatibility version 3.5, and can be added to a cluster of compatibility version 3.5. So the supported compatibility levels in the guide would need to be updated. Note however that to use gluster volume as storage domain - you would need a cluster with this feature supported, i.e cluster >= 3.3
Here are few facts that I can provide : 1. GlusterFS storage domain is introduced from RHEV 3.3, earlier to that we used POSIXFS storage domain for gluster and that worked well. We tested the same fully 2. Managing RHGS ( gluster ) nodes, required cluster compatibility levels. In other words, particular version of Red Hat Gluster Storage Node could be added to cluster with specific compatibility level. This compatibility matrix is captured in RHEV-RHS Guide - https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Storage/3/html/Configuring_Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization_with_Red_Hat_Storage/chap-Recommended_Best_Practices_and_Troubleshooting.html#Compatible_Versions Hope that helps

I couldn't understand the difference between the two. As you mentioned, I was mentioning about the UI part that manages nodes, but those nodes need to be in RHEV DC and cluster. We have few restrictions on that part, which is what explained in the compatibility matrix Let me know, if I misunderstood your question
