Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Kedar Bidarkar 2015-05-12 12:37:58 UTC
Description of problem:
assigning ak_roles at user_group level to users seems to have no affect

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
sat6.1-GA-SNAP3-compose2

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. configure LDAP authentication using http://theforeman.org/manuals/1.8/index.html#4.1.1LDAPAuthentication
2. create a user-group with external user-group (example Active Directory)
3. create a ak_role via the roles and assign only the "activation keys" permissions via the filters.
4. assign the role "ak_role" at the user_group level
5.

Actual results:
login via the user which is part of the external user-group , to observer that the user cannot perform "ak" roles.

Expected results:
ogin via the user which is part of the external user-group , to observer that the user can perform "ak" roles.

Kedar, does this happen outside of LDAP as well?

Comment 3 Kedar Bidarkar 2015-05-12 18:11:52 UTC
this happens only when roles are assigned at the user_group level.

when assigning the role with "activation keys permissions" to user directly it works fine.

Comment 4 Kedar Bidarkar 2015-05-12 18:14:50 UTC
ah! ok, I know exactly what you are asking, need to check, will update here soon.

Comment 5 Kedar Bidarkar 2015-05-12 18:25:21 UTC
Important Update:

strange, looks like this is only when we are using "LDAP authentication" and assigning the role at "user-group" level only.

Comment 6 Kedar Bidarkar 2015-05-12 18:42:00 UTC
works fine when using for a normal user with auth source as "INTERNAL".

Comment 7 Kedar Bidarkar 2015-05-15 10:41:53 UTC
I investigated further and it looks like, the issue is actually different.

Actually it is,

Adding/Updating roles at user_group level to users seems to have no effect.

Will close this bug and raise a new bug. Sorry for the confusion.
