Description of problem:
When i login with gdm I get this error messages in /var/log/messages.

last message repeated 3 times
modprobe: FATAL: Error running install command for sound_slot_1
modprobe: FATAL: Error running install command for sound_slot_1

I do not know whether sound is working properly, because on the
machine i noticed the messages is just for testing purposes for me and
has no boxes or a headset pluges in. On previous kernel i also noticed
these lines. I use Gnome and did not try KDE yet.
The Motherboard is a ASUS K8V SE Deluxe with VIA K8T800 Chipset.

Comment 1 Thomas Antony 2004-05-10 16:59:03 UTC
I bootet to init 3 an did a "modprobe sound-card-0" when no sound
module was loaded. The result is
kernel: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0xfe0000]
kernel: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0xfe0000]
kernel: codec_read: codec 0 is not valid [0xfe0000]

Comment 2 Dave Jones 2004-12-08 06:38:18 UTC
still a problem with the 2.6.9 update ?

Comment 3 Dave Jones 2005-04-16 06:03:56 UTC
Fedora Core 2 has now reached end of life, and no further updates will be
provided by Red Hat. The Fedora legacy project will be producing further kernel
updates for security problems only.

If this bug has not been fixed in the latest Fedora Core 2 update kernel, please
try to reproduce it under Fedora Core 3, and reopen if necessary, changing the
product version accordingly.

Thank you.
