Description Roderick Johnstone 2015-07-02 12:53:15 UTC
Description of problem:
Output in konsole window pauses every few minutes.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
konsole5-15.04.0-1.fc22.x86_64

How reproducible:
Often.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Type stuff into a konsole terminal
2.
3.

Actual results:
Echoing of characters is sometimes (every few minutes but very variable) delayed for a couple of seconds.

Expected results:
Characters are echoed immediately

Also can be shown with the following:
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set a continuous ping going in a konsole window
2.
3.

Actual results:
There is sometimes (every few minutes, but very variable) a pause of a a couple of second in the ping output.
Ping times are unchanged during the output pause suggesting its not a slow ping but rather a hangup in the writing of the ping output to the screen.

Expected results:
Ping results are written to the screen immediately.

Additional info:
Running a ping test in a vanilla xterm and konsole in the kde session shows the output pauses only in the konsole window. The output to the xterm window continues as expected.

No pauses are seen in xfce4-terminal in an xfce session.
Pauses are seen in a konsole window started from xfce4-terminal in an xfce session.

Other KDE apps might be affected as well.
