Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 1298017
epel-release rpm has gone missing
Last modified: 2016-01-13 09:37:12 EST
Description of problem:
The epel-release RPM is missing from the rhel-x86_64-server-optional-6 channel
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Steps to Reproduce:
2. yum install epel-release --noplugins
Setting up Install Process
No package epel-release available.
Error: Nothing to do
installed, per the guide: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL
Oops. My bad. I completely misread the wiki on fedoraproject. I read that page to mean that the epel-release package is *in* the optional channel, not that it *needs* the optional channel.
Truth be told, it would be nice if epel release was included in the optional (or extra) channel, but that's a point of debate I don't have the time to take up.
In any case, I'm closing this ticket as ERRNO60 (i.e., error exists 60cm from the screen). ;-)
