Summary: Running RHEL-7.2 Workstation with RHEL-7.2Z updates, I have several workspaces each with several applications running. I locked my screen to step away from the computer. Returning short time later, I tapped the spacebar to turn dual monitors back on in order to login. I logged in with my password and all my previously open applications were closed :/ Description of problem: The following Fatal error seen in /var/log/messages at the time frame of the incident: gnome-settings-daemon: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0 Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): distro: RHEL-7.2 kernel: 3.10.0-327.3.1.el7.x86_64 gnome-shell.x86_64: 3.14.4-37.el7 gnome-settings-daemon.x86_64 3.14.4-9.el7 How reproducible: unknown Actual results: # cat /var/log/messages | grep Fatal Jan 25 10:27:08 my_pc gnome-session: (gnome-settings-daemon:3356): Gdk-WARNING **: gnome-settings-daemon: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0. All, Let me clarify... Im not "logging back in" to my pc - Im unlocking the screen. Best, -pbunyan
Ray, I have been moving along with zstream updates on my PC and have not reproduced this particular issue. This BZ has been quiet. So feel free to close - if you wish. I can reopen should the issue surface again... Best, -pbunyan
okay, it's probably an X server crash of some sort, but hard to say. Given there's no customer case attached and there aren't duplicate reports, I'll close for now. reopen if it happens again, and we can try to dig further!
Same thing happens to me, several times... when I left my machine for a while and try to unlock my current session, which already has several process running and some X application holding on.
