Description Stuart Auchterlonie 2016-02-16 10:45:14 UTC
Description of problem:

When I publish a content view, the publishing starts and then
you end up on the screen showing the progress of the publish task
for that content view.

Whilst this screen is open, the responsiveness of the browser
is terrible, taking ~10 seconds to switch tabs. It also affect
the ability to scroll up and down within a page.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Satellite 6.1.{567}
Chrome Version 48.0.2564.109 (64-bit)

How reproducible:

100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run chrome with multiple windows, each containing multiple tabs
2. Publish a content view
3.

Actual results:

When the content view task progress bar is shown, observe the
slowness switching tabs and scrolling in other tabs/windows

Expected results:

The screen showing the status of the publish of the content
view should not impact on the rest of the browser.

Per 6.3 planning, moving out non acked bugs to the backlog

Comment 4 Brad Buckingham 2016-08-24 21:50:58 UTC
Hi Stuart, would it be possible for you to try this on Satellite 6.2 and let me know your feedback? There were several UI performance improvements implemented during that release; therefore, I want to confirm is this is still an issue.

Testing with my chrome browser (on laptop, but accessing remote Satellite), I am not seeing the slowness that is mentioned. In my case, I have a sync of puppetforge going in one tab, a publish of a CV with ~16K RHEL7 packages in another as well as several other tabs open and doing work.

Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and we do not expect this to be implemented in product in the forseeable future. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please feel free to contact Rich Jerrido or Bryan Kearney. Thank you.
