Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.
The following items must be addressed in Chapter 1. of the Installation Guide:
* Change the title to 'Introduction to Installing Red Hat Satellite'
* Make section 1.2 and 1.3 appendix items that are linked to from Chapter 1.
* s/Host systems can pull content from the Capsule Server and not from the
central Satellite Server./Host systems can pull content from the Capsule
Server instead of the central Satellite Server./
* "Although different variations and combinations exist..." - Can a little
more detail be added, such as "Although Red Hat Satellite Server can be
configured in a number of configurations and in combination with Red Hat
Satellite Capsule Server"?
* I don't think the proposed title change to Introduction to Installing is necessary, although I agree that there is some rework to do. I would like to wait on this to see if section 1.1 should end up in the Architecture Guide.
* I actually agree with Russell that creating a scalability section might be worthwhile, but this needs more discussion.
* Change made.
* Change made with slight variation.
** So because of the first two comments, chapter one could very easily become very short and just describe what Satellite and Capsule Servers do.
Per email conversation with Rich, removing the Common Deployment Scenarios section since it will be covered in the Architecture Guide. I also moved the Large Deployment Scenarios and Capsule Server Scalability Considerations to an Appendix. Both are linked from the Preparing for installation overview section.
