Description Piscium 2016-03-18 00:20:35 UTC
Description of problem:
Cannot play dropped-in folder

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
3.6.2-3.fc23

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. With a file manager drop a folder that has songs in it over Audacious window.

Actual results:
The folder is not played.

Expected results:
In Fedora versions up to Fedora 21 the songs in the folder would be automatically imported to a playlist and the first song would start to play followed by all the others in the folder.

Additional info:
I uninstalled the Fedora 23 package (3.6.2-3.fc23) and built from source and installed the latest upstream version (3.7.1) and this bug is not present. My suggestion therefore would be to upgrade the Fedora package to the latest upstream version (3.7.1) to fix this issue.

Audacious 3.7 was not available at the time of Fedora 23 release. The plugin API is still compatible with 3.6.x plugins, but upgrading always bears risks if there are not enough people giving feedback on Test Updates.

No need to build from source, however, since newer releases have been available in my Copr repo:

OK. Thanks.

Comment 3 Piscium 2016-09-24 08:50:20 UTC
The problem still exists in Fedora 24 with Audacious v. 1.7.2. The difference now is that if I build from source it does not fix the problem.

Comment 4 Piscium 2016-09-24 09:26:03 UTC
I managed to fix the problem by deleting ~/.config/audacious and ~/.cache/audacious, so likely this is not a problem specific to Fedora as at the moment I am running a version I built from upstream sources.

Anyway, it is good in my opinion to keep this bug report open so that other people can find a solution for this issue. This feature of dropping a folder into a player to play all songs in the folder is something I use a lot and one of the Audacious features I love most - as few other players can do this.

Comment 5 Michael Schwendt 2016-09-24 10:31:06 UTC
I don't think this is a common problem.
