Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Lukas Zapletal 2016-03-21 10:49:24 UTC
Discovery PXE-less feature which was released as a feature errata for 6.1 did not contain remaster script:

https://access.redhat.com/blogs/1169563/posts/2090011

This was fixed in 6.2. Please change the remark about the missing discovery-remaster only for 6.1 version. It's now part of the image package:

[root@cloud~]# rpm -qpl foreman-discovery-image-3.1.1-1.el7sat.noarch.rpm
/usr/bin/discovery-remaster
/usr/share/foreman-discovery-image
/usr/share/foreman-discovery-image/foreman-discovery-image-3.1.1-1.iso

Comment 1 Dan Macpherson 2016-07-06 02:05:41 UTC
Lukas, this is now included in the new Provisioning Guide:

https://access.stage.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-satellite/6.2-beta/provisioning-guide/#Provisioning_Bare_Metal_Hosts-Implementing_PXE-less_Discovery

How is this section? Anything further I should add?

Comment 2 Lukas Zapletal 2016-07-08 07:36:47 UTC
Incorporate and correct please:

It can be used in environments without PXE/TFTP services and works with or without DHCP service.

The package is foreman-discovery-image.

There was a recent patch that removed all "Foreman" strings from all screens, except the title (Foreman Discovery Image). Replace it, e.g. Foreman URL is now Server URL.

The pxmac option accepts MAC in the form of AA:BB:CC:DD:EE:FF

The discovery-remaster is part of foreman-discovery-image package.

Copying the ISO before remaster process is an extra step, remaster never modifies the existing one and always creates a copy.

I don't get why finish template is required, it should be not. We are PXE booting the host.

The tool creates a new ISO file under /usr/share/foreman-discovery-image/ and reports its name.

It's actually *in the current directory* rather than there. ^

Other than that OK.

Probably even better to say "the same directory as the discovery image".

I've updated again:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-satellite/6.2-beta/provisioning-guide/#Provisioning_Bare_Metal_Hosts-Implementing_PXE-less_Discovery

How does it look?

No additional updates to the bug in over one month.

Closing.
