Description Miciah Dashiel Butler Masters 2016-03-21 21:23:44 UTC
Description of problem:

I have a long name. When I try to register for the Developer Preview, the registration form rejects my name.

How reproducible:

Contingent on having a long name.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Log into GitHub (I used my account, "Miciah", which has my full name: "Miciah Dashiel Butler Masters").

2. Load http://register-osdevelopers.itos.redhat.com/?preview=true in a Web browser.

3. Click "Login with GitHub".

4. Specify "Job Role" ("Developer or Development Manager") and "Country" ("United States").

5. Click "Register".

Actual results:

The registration form comes back with the following message: "Your full name must be less than 24 characters long."

Expected results:

I should be permitted to register using my full name.

Additional info:

My full name is "Miciah Dashiel Butler Masters", which is 29 characters.

Per Abhishek, unless Intercom restricts the length, we should be able to increase the maximum to 50 characters.

Comment 1 Jacob Lucky 2016-03-21 21:41:07 UTC
This is still my preferred behavior. I don't want more than 24 characters showing up in Intercom. This is 4 more characters than Twitter allows in the same field: https://twitter.com/signup.

Comment 2 Jacob Lucky 2016-03-22 13:22:05 UTC
Resolved. Maximum length has been updated to 30 characters to match GitHub's length for their "full name" field. This change is now live in int/stg/production.

Steps to verify:
1.Login github with github account, and full name is "Tina Criss Angel Dashiel Butler Masters" which is more than 30 characters.
2.Load http://register-osdevelopers.itos.redhat.com/?preview=true in a Web browser.
3. Click "Login with GitHub".
4. After fill the full name with "Tina Criss Angel Dashiel Butler Masters", and fill all other info, click on "REGISTER" button, it prompts an error info that "Your full name must be less than 30 characters long."
5. After fill the full name with "Tina Dashiel Butler Masters", and fill all other info, click on "REGISTER" button, it succeeds and prompts info "Your request has been received. We will notify you by email when your account is created."

The bug has been fixed, so move it to Verified.
