Description Heðin 2016-03-25 16:35:38 UTC
Description of problem:
Installing from CentOS7 1602 ISO on Dell xps13 with 4k screen is very unfriendly(minuscule text) adding the fact that it's a touchscreen makes it orders of magnitude worse

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
CentOS-7 DVD iso, build 1602

How reproducible:
Try to install RHEL7/CentOS7 on xps13(9350) with 4k touch screen.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot xps13(9350) from RHEL ISO
2. Try to navigate in anaconda

Actual results:
* Minuscule text
* Very touch unfriendly GUI

Expected results:
Anaconda should detect the screen size and resolution and take that into account on boot.
It should be possible to switch to touchscreen mode when anaconda starts

What version of anaconda is this? As of RHEL 7.2 (anaconda-21.48.8 onwards), anaconda does take the display resolution into account, using the same heuristics that GNOME does. A display with a height of 1200 pixels or greater and with a dpi greater than 192 will be scaled so that everything appears twice as large in the graphical installer.

Can you also attach /tmp/X.log and /tmp/anaconda.log from the installation environment? Are there any particular problems with using a touch screen other than the resolution?

I used the latest iso available at the time of making this ticket.

It turned out that gnome was taking the screen size and resolution in to account.

I have since this installed an alternative distribution and don't have time for testing this further atm.
