Description Jerry Keselman 2016-04-04 15:58:22 UTC
Description of problem:
Attempting to run Smartstate Analysis on a Hyperv VM reports the above message when
attempted from list or grid view.
If you drill down to the detail on the VM and attempt SSA it runs.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to grid view for a Hyper-V VM
2.Select the check box next to the VM.
3.From the Configuration Drop Down, select "Perform SmartState Analysis"

Actual results:
Smartstate Analysis does not apply to at least one of the selected Virtual Machines

Expected results:
Analysis initiated for selected VM.

The VMs in this situation are actually orphaned. So the first message is probably more likely correct in the sense that SSA should not be allowed (although I'm not sure that is the precise message one should see). When you drill down to the VM details and SSA starts, this is incorrect.

Milan,

Can you see if you can recreate this one.

Thanks,

I added a SCVMM provider, did a refresh, then removed the provider
to achieve the state of orphaned VMs.

When I selected an orphaned scvmm virtual machine from list, I was able to submit
the smartstate analysis action, but got a flash message back telling the action
does not apply to the selected vm. (this is correct).

Then, when I selected specific scvmm orphaned vm, I was not able to submit
the smartstate analysis action, since the button is greyed out. (this is also correct)

What's the scenario here, that's not working correctly?

Comment 7 Jerry Keselman 2016-05-09 17:24:25 UTC
At the time I filed the BZ, if you drilled down to the orphaned VM the SmartState Analysis action selection was not grayed out, and I was able to submit it. In a more current appliance this no longer happens so I suppose this bz may be closed.

All right, thank you. I'm closing this report with worsforme.
