THE RED HAT JBOSS BPM SUITE INSTALLER INSTALLATION Describe the issue: Having a discussion with BRMS/BPMS QA team lead and it's obvious the Jar installer is not supposed to work with RPM installed EAP. Need to add some warning in the doc about this to avoid incorrect / unsupported configuration on customer side. Email confirmation from QA team: ------------------------------------------------------------------- the BPM Suite installer does not support EAP installed from RPM at all. The only supported EAP distribution is just an unpacked zip archive - the installer requires EAP root directory as an input (which is not applicable to EAP RPM distribution). ------------------------------------------------------------------- Suggestions for improvement: Add a "WARNING" or "IMPORTANT" box in Chapter 2.1 in Installation Guide and highlight the unsupported / suggested installation scenario. For example: BPMS (BRMS) Jar installer is NOT supported to work with EAP distribution which was installed by YUM / RPM. If EAP was installed by YUM/RPM, please use "Deployable Zip" to install BPMS (BRMS) as EAP deployment, see chapter "2.1.3. Downloading Deployable ZIP for Red Hat JBoss EAP" for details. Additional information: Some customers want to choose JAR installer for their RPM installed EAP, and the Jar installer might work after some modification / changes on EAP , but it's not a tested scenario and we don't know what would happen after the YUM update. If one choose YUM/RPM to install EAP, then only deployable zip should be used to install BPMS/BRMS.
Tracked in JBoss JIRA. Klara Kufova is working on this.
