Hello, I have customer on Case # 01619480 requesting a status of the above; or a response to his comment. Thank you kindly. Ashlee` Burch
Hi Ashlee and Christian, We have re-written the section, so that it now describes the correct boot loader, and when the update has been verified to be accurate, and any necessary edits have been made, we will republish the guide so that the changes are visible as soon as possible. All the very best, Clayton
I just looked at RHEL 7 "Chapter 10. Booting the Installation on IBM Power Systems" (at https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7/html/Installation_Guide/chap-booting-installer-ppc.html) which says, "Installation media use the yaboot bootloader to start IBM Power Systems servers. When the installation process is complete the server will boot using GRUB2 (GRand Unified Bootloader version 2)." But my experience is that a grub prompt is presented when RHEL 7 first booted. I see that RHEL 7 Beta "Chapter 10. Booting the Installation on IBM Power Systems" (at https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7-Beta/html/Installation_Guide/chap-booting-installer-ppc.html) which has been updated to show the correct boot prompt, but it does not mention that the prompt is from grub, not yaboot. Not a big deal, but it would seem worth mentioning explicitly that grub is the bootloader. What is the date by which https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/7/html/Installation_Guide/chap-booting-installer-ppc.html will be updated with the new version in the RHEL 7 Beta documentation?
Thanks for the feedback OneSkyWalker - I have now updated the guide to mention specifically that GRUB2 is used in this case. The beta version of the documentation has been published now, and the above two links contain the same content. Thanks again! Clayton
Released.
