Created attachment 1148542 [details] screencast of the issue Description of problem: On a hidpi screen (3200x1800) the nautilus occasionally moves the folder view half way down (see the screen cast attached). After a few such events, the gnome-shell starts to consume >100% of CPU until manually restarted. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 3.20.0-1.fc24 How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open nautilus 2. Switch between the list and icon views 3. Actual results: The view shifts down to the bottom half of the canvas. Expected results: No changes to position of GUI elements. Additional info: The bug dates back to 3.18.0 The nautilus behaves as expected on 1080p screen.
Confirmed on Fedora 23 64bit X86 Fully Updated. i7 32GB Core Mem Dual Head 1920 x 1080 Monitors NVIDIA Corporation GM107 [GeForce GTX 750 Ti] (rev a2) Fails for all Icon Sizes Crashes randomly but usalt after preffs is selected once the view has been switched once Not noticed until 3.18.0 Doesn't reproduce on Fedora 24 Beta Nautilus 3.0.2-1 x64 running in Virtualbox Mike
Reproduces on FC24 Release on Native HardwareThis was an upgrade from 23 -> 24 Have deleted ~/.config/nautilus but no difference seen I am guessing a settings file but ? which one Mike
I have also run into this bug. I am using a 1920 x 1080 display and it does it to me. when i close it it goes back to normal as log as i dont change to list mode. is there a way to fix this and when will it be updated. I am new to fedora like 2 days and i love this system but this bug makes it hard to do simple things.
I can confirm this as well, Dell XPS14 Core i7 with or without external monitor connected will cause this issue. Even just clicking "Other locations", will cause the same issue. Tried different themes with no change.
Happened to me as well. Both switching between list and icon views and clicking Other locations triggers it. This is a single 1920 x 1080 display, no external monitor or anything fancy. Using the interactive debugger, I determined that the top blank half is a GtkVPaned while the bottom half with all the files and folders is a NautilusCanvasView. Not sure if that helps.
happens on F25 as well
Can confirm that this also happens on F25, although only on my laptop. Desktop (also F25) seems to works fine. Also, another step for reproduction (for me at least) is by using the search function. However, this switches (on my machine) from list -> icon view, so it's basically the same issue as already mentioned. This issue is triggered every time I: - Search for a file - Switch from list -> icon view - Go to 'Other locations' On my desktop (two monitors) this doesn't happen, even if I disconnect one of my monitors. One thing I could think of is that my laptop has a higher DPI (laptop is 1080p on 15.6'' display, desktop is 1080p on 24'' display).
I have same problem since F24.
F25 and still this problem is here (both wayland and xorg)... please fix it soon, it turns nautilus in a barely usable thing...
In my case the resolution of the screen is 1366x768, and the bug shows up every time I switch beetween list and icon views
Sorry for multiple posting. I've just discovered that in my case the error was due to `nautilus-terminal` package. I've unistalled it and now everything works as expected. So, that one is the package to be fixed.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 24 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 2 (two) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 24. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '24'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 24 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 24 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-08-08. Fedora 24 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
