Description Andrius Benokraitis 2016-04-19 15:36:45 UTC
In reference to:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-enterprise-linux-openstack-platform/version-7/networking-guide/#sec-physical-switch

I'd like to request a section be added to Section 8: "8. Configure physical switches for OpenStack Networking" to include configuration of Cumulus Linux switches.

We would be happy to provide you with the content to drop-in provided we know the format.

This would be beneficial with the recent POC announcement:

https://cumulusnetworks.com/press_releases/detail/20160414-cumulus-networks-collaborates-with-dell-and-red-hat-to-simplify-300-node-openstack-pod/

Thanks very much!

Regards,

Andrius.

FYI: I've added project sponsors in the CC field if you'd like to get a better understanding of the project internally. Thanks!

Comment 3 Martin Lopes 2016-05-03 06:14:16 UTC
Hi Andrius,

You can post the steps here in plaintext or asciidoc, and I'll be happy to format them for the guide. Or if you prefer, you can email them directly to me: mlopes

Cheers,
Martin

Thanks very much Martin, I'm working with our guys internally - once we have the content I'll report back. Thanks very much!

Comment 5 Pete 2016-05-04 01:12:55 UTC
Hi Martin, the OSP8 section of the doc has a pretty standard format for each NOS (trunk ports, access ports, LACP, MTU, LLDP). Is this the only information you want, or can we put other content in here?

Comment 6 Martin Lopes 2016-05-04 02:56:09 UTC
Hi Pete, those selected configurations are what we considered to be the most typical requirements that would be common to the various vendor products. I think the SMEs are happy with the ones we have for now, but you can mention any suggestions here and I'll point the folks at them.

Comment 7 Pete 2016-05-11 01:16:42 UTC
OK thanks, Martin. I'll check with the team here and see what they had in mind.

Comment 8 Andrius Benokraitis 2016-05-11 15:21:21 UTC
Hi Martin, is there any flexibility to some of the sections, given our approach to networking is a bit different than others? Thanks!

Comment 9 Martin Lopes 2016-05-12 00:23:28 UTC
Hi Andrius,

Sure, we can definitely be flexible here to accommodate your approach. We do aim for consistency in tone and formatting throughout a guide, but I'll be happy to do that editing myself, if needed.

Comment 10 Pete 2016-06-02 23:27:34 UTC
Hi Martin, I just emailed you the steps for doing this with Cumulus Linux. Thanks again for your help here!

Comment 11 Martin Lopes 2016-06-03 03:50:09 UTC
Thanks Pete, working on getting this added to the guide.
