RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

I understand why currently an ellipsis is used, but it does have value to see the complete OS name.

Andreas, do you have an opinion from the UX pov?

Comment 2 Andreas Nilsson 2016-04-28 08:48:55 UTC
The column has a certain width so we can fit the graphs as well.

I tested this mostly on Fedora, CentOS and RHEL before, all of them with shorter names, so that's probably why this didn't come up before.

One thing we could do is to show the full string on hover, with a tooltip.

Comment 3 Andreas Nilsson 2016-04-28 08:55:43 UTC
Reported this in the upstream tracker.
https://github.com/cockpit-project/cockpit/issues/4314

Comment 4 Fabian Deutsch 2016-04-28 09:11:55 UTC
What about a line break for long OS names? It would be nice to see the complete name on a first glance

Comment 5 Andreas Nilsson 2016-04-28 09:20:11 UTC
Yeah, that could work too.

Comment 7 Stef Walter 2016-04-28 13:15:57 UTC

Comment 9 Dominik Perpeet 2016-07-06 09:00:28 UTC
Will be fixed in Cockpit 0.113

Assigning to myself to track until release.

Comment 11 Stef Walter 2016-07-14 12:21:11 UTC
Likely manual testing needed.
