Description of problem: The integrated usb webcam (Chicony hd - 04f2:b337 ) not detected anymore. A few weeks (maybe 1 or 2 months) it was working. After each released update I have tested to know if the cam back to work. I performed dnf update today. Before the update (yesterday): - cam present in dmesg output - cam not listed on lsusb output - no /dev/video0 device After the update (today): - cam not present in dmesg output - cam still not listed on lsusb output - /dev/video0 device still out Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot the system 2. ensure that uvcvideo driver was loaded 3. open a program that read from webcam (eg: cheese or camorama) Actual results: missing /dev/video0 device cam not listed with lsusb or usb-devices Expected results: a functional /dev/video0 device Additional info: My hardware is an Acer Aspire V3-571 # uname -a Linux ut.bender.eti.br 4.4.8-300.fc23.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed Apr 20 16:59:27 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux # lsusb Bus 002 Device 002: ID 8087:0024 Intel Corp. What's the last kernel version where this worked? If you boot into that kernel again do you see the webcam?
Unfortunately I don't remember the version where this worked. The kernels available on my system are: vmlinuz-0-rescue-e61a885953004c3bb1d9b0eed77b6d58 vmlinuz-4.4.6-301.fc23.x86_64 vmlinuz-4.4.7-300.fc23.x86_64 vmlinuz-4.4.8-300.fc23.x86_64 but, the cam stop to work before.
