The logrotate configuration file, /etc/logrotate.d/argus, from argus-3.0.8-4.fc23.x86_64 has a global "compress" directive that causes logrotate to compress by default all the logs that it handles and not just the argus log. This will adversely affect any logrotation that does not have an explicit "nocompress" directive. The following line-numbered /etc/logrotate.d/argus shows the global "compress" directive on line 2. This should be moved inside the braces of the section specific to "/var/lib/argus/argus.out" so that non-argus log rotation is not affected. 1 # logrotate configuration file for package argus 2 compress 3 4 /var/lib/argus/argus.out { 5 daily 6 rotate 366 7 missingok 8 olddir /var/lib/argus/archive 9 } On my computer, this issue affects almost every other log handled by logrotate.
