Description of problem: I've just installed fedora 24 and added lots of packages to the base install. One of the packages I installed was emacs. I see the file /usr/share/info/emacs.info.gz does exist, but there is no entry for it in the /usr/share/info/dir directory. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): emacs-common-25.0.94-1.fc24.x86_64 How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1.install emacs from f24 repos 2.try to run info on emacs 3.no entry in directory Actual results: no info directory entry Expected results: info directory gets updated Additional info:
I see this, too. I wanted to access the Elisp reference manual in Info, but it is not listed in the top level Info directory node, even though it exists in the standard location in /usr/share/info. As Tom Horsley, I cannot see the Emacs manual in the Info directory either.
Could you please try with https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2016-a54ea177cf? My info pages are fine...
I just tried it on a virtual machine - no change. Still no entries made in the info directory file.
No change. I still cannot access many Info nodes from the top Info directory. But they all exist in the standard location -- /usr/share/info
