Description Matt Flusche 2016-08-28 21:46:31 UTC
Description of problem:
For OSP-d 9, the overcloud nodes loop with the following error:

unrecognised option "timeout"

Workaround is to remove the "--timeout 60000" from /httpboot/inspector.ipxe on the undercloud node and re-run introspection.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rhosp-director-images-ipa-9.0-20160818.1.el7ost.noarch
openstack-ironic-inspector-3.2.2-4.el7ost.noarch

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. For OSP-d 9, add ironic nodes
2. Run: openstack baremetal introspection start [NODE UUID]
3. Observe console of overcloud node during introspection

Actual results:
overcloud node loops with usage error for --timeout option

Expected results:
introspection

Hello! You haven't mentioned if it's bare metal or virtual environment. However, the problem is that you have outdated iPXE ROM somewhere. If it's a virtual environment, please make sure to update the ipxe packages on the virtual host (not the undercloud!). If it's bare metal, please check with your vendor for firmware updates.

Thanks Dimtry! This is a virtual environment. Looks like the current version of ipxe ROM from rhel-7-server-rpms repo (ipxe-roms-qemu-20130517-8.gitc4bce43.el7_2.1.noarch) is not compatible.

I upgrade to the version (ipxe-roms-qemu-20160127-1.git6366fa7a.el7.noarch) available in the OSD-d 9 repo: rhel-7-server-openstack-9-director-rpms and that resolved my issue.

Thanks again for your help.
