I installed Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_64-25-Alpha-1.2.iso using qemu-kvm like this: nice -n 19 ionice -c 3 qemu-kvm -machine pc-i440fx-2.4 -enable-kvm -global qxl.ram_size=1x1024 -m 2048M -smp 2 -drive file=./Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_64-25-Alpha-1.2.iso.qcow2,index=0,media=disk,cache=unsafe -localtime -serial file:/tmp/qemu-Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_64-25-Alpha-1.2.iso.qcow2-output.log -name Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_64-25-Alpha-1.2.iso.qcow2 -cdrom /local/mfabian/iso/Fedora-25/Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_64-25-Alpha-1.2.iso -boot c -spice port=6002,disable-ticketing,streaming-video=off -vga qxl -display vnc=:6 -net nic -net user,hostname=Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_64-25-Alpha-1.2.iso.qcow2,hostfwd=tcp::5556-:22 -monitor stdio -usb -usbdevice mouse -soundhw all - Installation done in Japanese - After first log in into Gnome, the desktop is correctly in Japanese see: language-change-problem-01-japanese.png - Now I try to switch to German using the “gnome-control-center region” see: language-change-problem-02-changing-to-german.png It tells me to log out to make the change effective. - I click on “Jetzt neustarten” (= "restart now") and see the logout dialog: see: language-change-problem-03-changing-to-german.png - Then I get back to gdm, which is still in Japanese: see: language-change-problem-04-changing-to-german-logged-out-gdm-is-still-japanese.png - I log in again, now the desktop is mostly in German but parts are still in Japanese: see: language-change-problem-05-changing-to-german-logged-in-again-desktop-is-mostly-german-but-some-parts-are-still-japanese.png Note for example the menu bar of gnome-terminal, it is in Japanese. The locale command executed in gnome-terminal prints only German locale settings (de_DE.UTF-8). cat /etc/locale.conf also shows LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 But checking the environment of gnome-terminal-server shows that it is still Japanese: [mfabian@Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_6 ~]$ tr '\0' '\n' < /proc/$(pidof gnome-terminal-server)/environ | grep LANG LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 [mfabian@Fedora-Workstation-netinst-x86_6 ~]$ - logging out again and logging in again does not fix this, this mixture of German and Japanese remains - Only a reboot finally fixes the problem.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '25'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 25 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
