Description Vimal Kumar 2016-08-30 11:43:46 UTC
* Description of problem:

Due to the differences in the earth's rotation speeds, the UTC time supported by the various atomic clocks over the world tends to go out of sync with the earth's time. Hence, changes are needed in the UTC time in order to make up for the difference.

An additional second also known as 'leap second' is incorporated in UTC in order to make up for the changes.

This year on December 31st, 2016, an extra second would be introduced to make up for the time drift.

RHCS/Ceph won't be necessarily affected by the drift since we always suggest NTP to be running on the cluster nodes. NTP should introduce the change of the additional second to the cluster nodes.

This bug is opened to track any suggestions or tests that need to be done for RHCS in the light of the upcoming introduction of the additional second on December 31st, 2016.

Ceph nodes not using NTP will have to use the updated tzdata package being released later which takes care of the introduction of the additional second.

* Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
