https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-virtualization/4.0/single/administration-guide/#sect-SPICE_Log_Files Next sentence seems to me incorrect: "Execute the debug-helper.exe file to install the GNU Debugger (GDB)." I would ask Uri Lublin for a help in this case.
I think that when using mingw-virt-viewer-2.0-11 which is part of rhevm-spice-client-4.0-3 debug-helper.exe is still needed.
Uri ) I am talking about a sentence in the Documentation, particularly about: "Execute the debug-helper.exe file to install the GNU Debugger (GDB)." My point that debug-helper.exe --- cannot install GDB )
(In reply to Andrei Stepanov from comment #2) > I am talking about a sentence in the Documentation, particularly about: > "Execute the debug-helper.exe file to install the GNU Debugger (GDB)." > My point that debug-helper.exe --- cannot install GDB Yes, you are right. debug-helper.exe is using gdb not installing it. Note that when using console.vv file, command can be similar to the one on Linux clients (e.g. from cmd): remote-viewer.exe --spice-debug path-to-console.vv That has to be done from path-to-virt-viewer-dir (e.g. cd c:\program files\virt-viewer-$version; cd bin) However stdout/stderr redirection into a file does not work (yet).
Actually, I think we can remove this sentence. It was helpful when using spice-active-x, but in 4.0 spice-active-x is deprecated). Instructions can be as simple as with Linux client.
Assigning to Emma for review. Emma, you'll simply need to remove the outdated sentence from the Administration Guide.
Pls. approve my change - I removed the sentence.
