Steps to Reproduce: 
 1. set low resolution (like 800x600) in your desktop environment
 2. switch to VT by pressing ctrl+alt+F2

Actual results: 
Console is in resolution 1024x768. But monitor has native resolution 1920x1080.

Expected results:
Console should be in your native resolution (use fbset or monitor menu to find
out current resolution).

works for me with el7.4
