Description Ervin 2016-09-11 16:53:47 UTC
Description of problem:
I could use voice search in the previous version of Chromium, 52.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
53

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the google home page with chromium
2. Click on the voice search microphone button.

Actual results:
The button does not respond.

Expected results:
The button should respond normally and a voice search should be possible, if no proprietary software dependencies are required.

I cannot reproduce this failure on Fedora 24 x86_64 with chromium-53.0.2785.101-1.fc24.x86_64.

I click on the voice search microphone icon, a popup asks for permission to access my microphone, I approve that request, then it says "listening", and I speak and it shows up in the search.

Comment 2 Ervin 2016-09-14 18:55:41 UTC
Tom, the bug was caused when I updated from 52 to 53. I could not access the microphone and no pop up message to allow camera and microphone came when hitting the microphone button in google's page from a new tab.
If however I inserted a google page link, then I had the option to allow access to camera and microphone becaues chromium considered it as a site.
Right now it works for me too, with a fresh install of the latest Chromium build for Fedora, so I will close the bug for now.
Will let you know if new updates of Chromium cause any errors again.
Thanks.
