Description of problem: We need a document for upgrading from 1.3.2 to 1.3.3 upgrade. The document will be pretty much same as 1.3.1 to 1.3.2
This bug is automatically being proposed for Ceph 2.z by setting the "ceph-2.z" release flag to "?"
Setting the Target Release to version 2.1 to match the release flag of "ceph-2.z"
What Shylesh meant was to add a section in current 1.3 install/upgrade doc with instructions to upgrade from 1.3.2 to 1.3.3.
QA Team, Instead of adding a whole new upgrade section, I've consolidated the upgrade content into two sections, one for upgrading from RHCS 1.2.3 to 1.3.3 and one for upgrading from 1.3.x to 1.3.3. This eliminates redundant content, since upgrade steps to minor RHCS 1.3 versions are the same. @Vikhyat, Can you please take a look at the doc changes done as part of comment 4 and let us know whether this is ok with Support? Regards, Harish
@Federico, Can you please take a look at the doc changes done as part of comment 4 and let us know whether this is ok with Product? Regards, Harish
Vikhyat and Federico, please respond asap. We need this to be finalized before 22nd Sep in order to start upgrade testing with RC build.
Sorry Harish. I was out of office. Thanks Aron, both looks good to me.
Doc link contains section for "upgrading 1.2.3 to 1.3.3.". QE will not be testing "Upgrading 1.2.3 to 1.3.3" as this is pm's decision and not in supported matrix. @Federico, Could you please confirm this, Thanks,
PM is aligned with Aaron's plan as defined in #4. I skimmed through the Gitlab draft and I did not see anything amiss.

I was discussing this with Harish earlier today. the docs are *probably* good, however they inherently promise migration paths we do not support: we only support 1.3.2->1.3.3, we would not support 1.3.0->1.3.3 or 1.3.1->1.3.3 — it is not that it cannot be made to work, it is just not what we are willing to promise all users. If the request arose, we would just ask Support or Consulting to spot-check the case under the conditions of the specific customer. So, Aaron, I think we need to adjust to offer only what was QE tested (1.3.2->1.3.3). —- Secondly, while I would like to include a 1.2.3->1.3.3 migration as something helping any user still running now-EOL 1.2.3, that was not part of the test plan either, so our documentation should just link to the old RHCS 1.3.2 doc on upgrade 1.2.3->1.3.2 if it is still available. We believe most if not all RHCS customers have successfully moved to 1.3.x and that this is a limited concern.
Moving to assigned state to incorporate the contents from comment 12
A small typo needs to be addressed in https://access.qa.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-ceph-storage/1.3/single/installation-guide-for-red-hat-enterprise-linux/#upgrade-v13-to-v13x. In section 4.1. Upgrading 1.3.2 to 1.3.3 first line says "There are two ways to upgrade Red Hat Ceph Storage 1.3.x to 1.3.3" please make this as "There are two ways to upgrade Red Hat Ceph Storage 1.3.2 to 1.3.3". Thanks, Shylesh
Looks good, marking this as verified.
