Created attachment 1201652 [details] This file will read "abc" successfully, but any unicode character that requires more than one byte fails. Description of problem: The attached code fails on CentOS 6, but is succeeds on all other linux versions I have tried (including CentOS 7) Also, I find that Qt's own package (qt-opensource-linux-x64-5.6.1-1.run) works, so I suspect that something is wrong the way qt5 has been compiled on epel... Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): qt5-qtbase-5.6.1-3.el6.x86_64 How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1.Compile the attached code 2.Run it Actual results: msg = "{\"string\": \"abc\"}" (Valid json) : "{\n \"string\": \"abc\"\n}\n" msg = "{\"string\": \"æøå\"}" (Broken json), error code = "invalid UTF8 string" Expected results: The "æøå" string should also give a "valid json" Additional info:
Mind reporting this one upstream to https://bugreports.qt.io ?
(In reply to Rex Dieter from comment #1) > Mind reporting this one upstream to https://bugreports.qt.io ? Yes, but the issue is not upstream. When compiling the Qt libraries from source on el6, the above test case works as expected. However, when using the EPEL el6 compiled Qt libraries, the test case fails. This issue is specific to EPEL build environment for Qt.
qtproject's qt builds use a non-standard compiler, and rhel6 is still a supported platform, so it is still a bug they should be made aware of at least. If you don't report it upstream, I probably will... eventually, when I have some spare time.
This message is a reminder that EPEL 6 is nearing its end of life. Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for EPEL 6 on 2020-11-30. It is our policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a 'version' of 'el6'. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before EPEL 6 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.
