Description dann 2016-09-20 15:25:21 UTC
Description of problem:

On a Lenovo Carbon X1 laptop with an external display connected using a DisplayPort cable through a ThinkPad OneLink Plus Dock kernel-4.7.3-200.fc24.x86_64 cannot start X11 on the external display.
When trying "startx" it prints some error messages and then stops.
Booting using 4.6.7-300.fc24.x86_64 does not show the same problem.

When used on a KVM VM sometime it locks up when disconnecting and connecting again using virt-manager (the VM is running XFCE in case that is relevant). The VM is still alive, I can ssh into it, just the display does not work.
Here too the problem goes away when booting an earlier version of the kernel.

*********** MASS BUG UPDATE **************

We apologize for the inconvenience. There are a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 24 kernel bugs.

Fedora 25 has now been rebased to 4.10.9-100.fc24. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel.

If you have moved on to Fedora 26, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 26.

If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.
