rust is now available in the Fedora 24 repositories, but firefox-49.0-2.fc24 still does not have rust enabled. this can be confirmed by visiting about:config and noting that the --enable-rust flag is not set.

There's a build issue with rust on i686. Jan, can we enable Rust for x86_64 only for now?

Yes, it is enabled for arm and x86_64 now. Upstream  bug for i686 issue is https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1306242
