Description zoran.stojsavljevic 2016-09-28 11:58:03 UTC
Description of problem:

I never used before virtualbox, and decided to do it, after reading this thread, and installing it on my Fedora 24 VM (VMM used: VMWorkstation 12.5 TYPE 2 hypervisor on WIN10 64 PRO). As I initially had, installation proceeded correctly.

Now I have created yesterday the following directory in my F24 VM (win.iso/) in my /root directory, and downloaded the following images there:

PHP Code:
[root@localhost win.iso]# pwd
/root/win.iso
[root@localhost win.iso]# ls -al
total 3494540
drwxrwxrwx. 2 root root 4096 Sep 28 08:56 .
drwxrwxr-x. 9 root root 4096 Sep 28 05:58 ..
-rwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 2048196608 Sep 27 20:20 7601.17514.101119-1850_Update_Sp_Wave1-GRMSP1.1_DVD.iso
-rwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 619581440 Dec 14 2015 Win10PESE_x64.ISO
-rw-rw-r--. 1 root root 563934504 Sep 28 08:55 windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe
-rwxrwxrwx. 1 root root 346666496 Sep 27 19:52 Windows_Win7SP1.7601.17514.101119-1850.X86FRE.Symbols.msi
[root@localhost win.iso]#
Started virtualbox&... The pop-up window appeared, giving me the choices ONLY for 32bit OSes. My best guess, 7601.17514.101119-1850_Update_Sp_Wave1-GRMSP1.1_DVD.iso is X86 (32bit), so tried to start it with virtualbox. The following appeared:

Cannot create the machine folder 7601.17514.101119-1850_Update_Sp_Wave1-GRMSP1.1_DVD.iso in the parent folder /root/win.iso.

Please check that the parent really exists and that you have permissions to create the machine folder.

With the following messages after exiting virtualbox:

PHP Code:
[root@localhost win.iso]# pwd
/root/win.iso
[root@localhost win.iso]# virtualbox&
[2] 6768
[1] Done virtualbox

virt-manager is a different tool that is unrelated to virtualbox. virtualbox isn't actually an official part of Fedora so you need to file a bug with virtualbox.org
