Description of problem: After upgrade from Fedora 23 to Fedora 24 I was having problems with re-generating the initramdisk with dracut. The utility udevadm moved to systemd-udev, which didn't get installed by default. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): systemd-udev-229-13.fc24.x86_64 How reproducible: I guess it is 100% upgrading from the minimal installation Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Fedora 23 minimal installation (cloud or server) 2. Upgrade to Fedora 24 3. try to reinstall the kernel-core package dnf reinstall kernel-core Actual results: the ramdisk fails to rebuild because dracut fails reporting that the udevadm is missing Expected results: the boot ramdisk should be rebuilt. $ rpm -qf /usr/bin/udevadm systemd-udev-.... How did you end up without udev? Seems to be a major upgrade failure... your system would not boot anyway without udev.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 24 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 2 (two) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 24. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '24'. Fedora 24 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-08-08. Fedora 24 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates.
