Description of problem:

In general : 
Occasional automatic provider refresh operations seem to complete successfully, but the Virtual Machines tree view does not contain the top-level datacenter object and several objects below the datacenter are also missing. Initiating a manual refresh fixes the issue and updates the object tree successfully, but after a while the datacenter / VMs tree goes missing again.

register for rhn , 
upgrade to 5.6.1.2 via yum ,terminal .

Confirmed, applying 5.6.2.1 fixed the issue

Changing this to Closed fixed in Current release since it was a known bug in 5.6.1 and resolved in 5.6.2
