Buttons shown by Chrome, but not by Thunderbird.

Description of problem:
After upgrading from F23 to F24 with dnf and reboot. The buttons to minimize, resize and close the windows do not show up / are not visible. The top bar is transparent. Only some programs are broken. Thunderbird, Firefox a Terminal window, Clementine.
 
Nautilus and Chrome show all three buttons and work correctly.

This was fixed by running 

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme "Adwaita"
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences theme "Adwaita"
