This can be QE reviewed now.

The upgrade_etcd.yml playbook is called automatically by other playbooks, so the only doc change in the Automated Upgrades doc is a bullet here that says that the etcd upgrade is included in the control plane phase:

For manual upgrades, step 4 here has you take an etcd backup before the upgrade:
