Description Germano Massullo 2016-10-17 17:02:07 UTC
Description of problem:
harvid package is missing, so Ardour is not able to importa videos into the projects. Ardour logs says:

[WARNING]: The specified video server is not an executable file.
[WARNING]: Could not connect to the Video Server. Start it or configure its access URL in Preferences.
[WARNING]: The external video server 'harvid' can not be found.
The tool is included with the Ardour releases from ardour.org, alternatively you can download it from http://x42.github.com/harvid/ or acquire it from your distribution.

see also http://manual.ardour.org/video-timeline/setup/

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ardour5-5.3.0-1.fc24.x86_64

Comment 1 Nils Philippsen 2016-10-26 15:50:26 UTC
Actually, you need three components according to that page: harvid, xjadeo, ffmpeg. The latter isn't included in Fedora because of the legal status of the included codecs (guessing here, I'm not a lawyer), so adding harvid or xjadeo to Fedora (if that is even possible without having ffmpeg) won't help you. I'll close the bug accordingly.
