Description Marek Kašík 2016-10-19 14:25:33 UTC
Description of problem:
Text in xterm is sometimes duplicated on last 2 lines when executing a command (e.g. when dnf show you all packages available for update and asks you whether you want to download them) or a text below a block which I've just removed in Midnight Commander editor disappear. The text corrects as I press a key. Maybe the window with the terminal has to be maximized to show the issue.
It seems that it is the issue reported in

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97914.

I've reverted these commits:

https://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel/commit/?id=1f6dfc9df6780bd3768bf065156b6e8dae05b80c
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel/commit/?id=52d3a026bbf844de1972ea9777dbcb11c7ac9ccd
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel/commit/?id=71d32739db7c5dd93d71bad9c4de049f82524ceb
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel/commit/?id=c8fc7f5e4bdd5b1e3212a226a2873393b5745f14

and it seems that it works now.

I have Lenovo ThinkPad T440s with Core i7-4600U here.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.917-26.20160929.fc25

Steps to Reproduce:
1. have a source file of something
2. remove a block of text in mcedit

Actual results:
text below the block is not rendered correctly (disappears mostly)

Expected results:
text which was below the removed block is at the place where one would expect it

Hi,

Looking at the upstream bug:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97914

It seems that this actually is a mesa bug, and there is a patch against mesa-12.0.x attached as an attachment: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=127322

Can you try building the F25 mesa pkg with this patch added, and see if that fixes things ?

Regards,

Hans

Comment 2 Marek Kašík 2016-10-20 16:24:47 UTC
Hi,

I've just tried the mesa patch and it fixes the issue as well.

Comment 3 Hans de Goede 2016-10-27 12:56:10 UTC
The mesa patches fixing this have been posted upstream:

https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2016-October/132952.html
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2016-October/132953.html
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/mesa-dev/2016-October/132954.html

Once they are actually merged (if they are accepted) we can cherry pick them into the Fedora mesa pkgs.

Comment 4 Fedora End Of Life 2017-11-16 19:15:48 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '25'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 25 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2017-12-12 10:53:24 UTC
Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
