Description Neal Gompa 2016-10-20 15:15:18 UTC
Description of problem:
When generating a live image with plymouth-theme-hot-dog in the package set, the non-fatal error for the scriptlet causes Anaconda to fail the build of the live media in livemedia-creator

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
25.20.5-1.fc25

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add plymouth-theme-hot-dog to a kickstart
2. Attempt to build with livemedia-creator with that kickstart

Actual results:
Anaconda fails the livemedia build with the following error in the log:
10:57:06,290 ERR anaconda: The following error occurred while installing. This is a fatal error and installation will be aborted.

DNF error: Non-fatal POSTIN scriptlet failure in rpm package plymouth-theme-hot-dog

Expected results:
Live Media is generated.

Additional info:
This works when targeting Fedora 24 instead of Fedora 25.

Comment 1 Kevin Fenzi 2016-11-13 02:40:38 UTC
anaconda/dnf changed with 2.0 to treat scriptlet errors as fatal.

The plymouth-theme-hot-dog seems to do a bunch in scriptlets, it makes a new initramfs, etc. It may not Require everything it's using there and get installed before the package it needs.

Comment 2 Neal Gompa 2016-11-13 18:25:11 UTC
We don't have DNF 2.0 in Fedora 25, which is why I'm puzzled why these errors kill the transaction entirely.

Comment 3 Kevin Fenzi 2016-11-13 19:48:28 UTC
yeah, sorry, it was an anaconda change... which I think landed around the time the dnf 2.0 support did, but was not tied to it.

In any case the scriptlet(s) need fixing.

Comment 4 Will Woods 2017-01-06 23:10:17 UTC
Fixed the scriptlets by removing the initramfs rebuild.

Rawhide build here: https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=831702

Let me know if that fixes the problem and I'll rebuild for F25, I guess?

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2017-11-16 19:07:56 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '25'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 25 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2017-12-12 10:52:48 UTC
Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
