Patch for GSettings GTK2 workaround

Description of problem:
Above

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
All versions of unity-gtk-module

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install cinnamon
2. Install cinnamon-applet-globalmenu and add it to panel
3. Install a GTK2 app (for example, Thunar)
4. Run GTK2 app in Global Menu environment

Actual results:
Thunar have 2 menus - on panel and in window

Expected results:
Thunar must remove menu in window

Additional info:
Ubuntu for hiding menus relies on patched GTK2 for supporting gtk-shell-shows-appmenu xsettings. I wrote a patch that adds GSettings key to hiding GTK2 menus to unity-gtk-module. I will attach patch below.

This workaround has a side effect, because it can be set only for all desktop environments at once.

Comment 1 lestcape 2016-10-23 20:45:43 UTC
This could be problematic in other desktop environments:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-gtk-module/+bug/1307657

This could be set in a non permanent way, to avoid conflicts in other desktop enviroments.

Comment 2 Konstantin 2016-10-23 21:02:36 UTC
Other desktop environments must not set GTK_MODULES to unity-gtk-module, I think:)

Comment 3 lestcape 2016-10-24 02:19:27 UTC
Yes, this probably will be enough, if this type of thing will not generate in Fedora problems between spins. I think it's better avoid any type of conflicts if it's possible...

Comment 4 lestcape 2016-10-24 07:33:06 UTC
Anyway, probably, will be better propose a path for gtk 2.0, like on ubuntu-debian-mint:

Original path created by William Hua:
https://code.launchpad.net/~attente/gtk/gtk-shell-shows-menubar/+merge/166911

Comment 5 Fedora Admin XMLRPC Client 2017-07-05 20:44:29 UTC

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2017-11-16 19:04:12 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 25 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 25. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '25'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 25 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 7 Fedora End Of Life 2017-12-12 10:50:31 UTC
Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
