Description BHUSHANGDANGRE 2016-10-24 17:26:20 UTC
1. Proposed title of this feature request
Request the addition of the LaTeX package xy-pic to RHEL repostories

 2. Account: name and acct
        Gerald Hopkins, 505663

3. What is the nature and description of the request?
Addition of the xy-pic LaTeX package to the RHEL repositories

4. Why do you need this? (List the business requirements here)
Our researchers use Red Hat exclusively to develop their code on their RHEL Workstations in order that they can run it on our Clusters which also run Red Hat exclusively. xypic is an essential LaTeX package for researchers who are trying to write their findings on their RHEL workstations. Xy-pic is a package for typesetting graphs and diagrams using the principle of "logical composition of visual components." It is an essential part of our production chain.

5. How would you like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
I would like to be able to do "yum install texlive-xypic" to install the xypic package with is part of the texlive distribution. It was included in the RHEL 6 repositories. But it appears that they dropped support for it.

6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and you can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
After installation is complete, one should be able to do "locate xypic". The package should be installed to /usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/xypic.

7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
  No

8. Do you have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL5, RHEL6)?
We are rolling out RHEL 7.2 or 7.3 to our main research network in January, so we would like this package by then.

9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
   No
10. List any affected packages or components.
This package is pretty independent. I don't believe it has any dependencies.

11. Would you be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
Yes. If have an RPM available, I would be happy to test it for you. Also, I can help with the building of the xypic package if needed.
