Description pgaltieri 2016-10-26 16:40:28 UTC
Description of problem:
When I power up my laptop wit no AC plugged in I do not see the mate power manager applet in the notification area. It only shows up when I plug the AC in. It remains displayed when I pull the AC out.

(See bugs 1045508 and 1045472)

This is a serious issue, if I'm in a place where I have no AC power not being able to know the state of the battery can be an issue.

I'm resubmitting this bug in the hope that it gets fixed and not closed eol like last time.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
1.16.0-1.fc24

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Power off laptop
2.Remove AC cord
3.Power on laptop

Actual results:
No battery monitor applet shows up in notification area

Expected results:
Battery status applet should show up in notification area

Additional info:
This problem was filed originally in 2013 and it's still present

Comment 2 Fedora End Of Life 2017-07-25 23:38:10 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 24 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 2 (two) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 24. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '24'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 24 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2017-08-08 19:01:13 UTC
Fedora 24 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-08-08. Fedora 24 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 4 pgaltieri 2017-08-10 03:05:50 UTC
This problem still exists in F25. I'm running the MATE desktop. When I power up the laptop with no AC the power management applet is not displayed. It only appears when I plug the AC cable in.
