Document URL: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-satellite/6.2/single/hammer-cli-guide/#chap-CLI_Guide-Managing_Activation_Keys Section Number and Name: Chapter 6 Describe the issue: Activation key setup are advised after provisioning, host group creation. Suggestions for improvement: I think it should be after creating publishing your content view. A host can easily be registered without provisioning that contains: --> content view+ activation key(with subs) Better to have your Activation in your host group. That way you can control the subscriptions via the host group.
Hi Jon, Thank you for raising this bug. Just to clarify, it sounds like your key request is for us to move "Chapter 6. Managing Activation Keys" to just after "Chapter 3. Managing Content Life Cycle", and possibly add an argument for specifying an activation key in the section on creating host groups. Does that sound correct? Kind regards, Andrew
Yes thats correct, good idea with footnote.
Thanks, Jon! Now assigning to Charles for review. Charles - see comment #1 for the details.
Hi Jon, I see that you wish to add an argument for specifying an activation key in the section on creating host groups. I believe this would fit in the chapter Managing Hosts. Can you give me the example command for specifying an activation key for host groups and tell me exactly what it does? Thank you. I have moved the chapters as you suggest. The best way to explain is that not every customer will use provisioning. i.e deploy vm with a satellite. but 100% will register vm to a content view. So including the activation topic in a provisioning guide doesn't really make sense as creating an activation key is core.
The content is now live on the customer portal.
